Narcan (Naloxone) is a life-saving medication that blocks the effects of opiates on the brain. When  administered through the nasal passages during an overdose.it can quickly restore breathing, initiate withdrawal and prevent death. It is harmless if administered to someone who is not experiencing and opiate overdose. The only function of the medication is to reverse the effects of opiate overdose and prevent death.
